what is the difference between the focus and the epicentre of a earthquake?
The epicentre is the point at the earth's crust where the earthquake orginates whereas the focus is the point at the earth's surface, directly above where the earthquake originates from

Friction and pressure building up at plate margins and the release of this pressure is an earthquake

They cause the ground to move backwards and forwards
