what is meant by the term 'carbon footprint'?
the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere as a result of the activities of a particular individual, organisation, community or country.

what is meant by the term 'throwaway society'?
An ideology commonly found in HICs where as soon as we get bored of a product, or a new version of it comes out, we throw it away, instead of recycling or reusing it.

a large or massive city.

The movement of people out of towns and cities to live in rural areas.

Factories shutting down in the countryside.

what is meant by the term 'enhanced greenhouse gas effect'?
The strengthening of the greenhouse gas effect through human activity. This means the earth gets warmer (global warming).

what is meant by the term 'greenhouse effect'?
The earth's atmosphere traps solar radiation caused by greenhouse gases such as CO2, water vapour and methane. This then allows sunlight to pass through it, but absorbs heat radiation back from the earth's surface, making it warm enough to live on.
