-Low lying area of farmland and wetlands in between Quantock and Mendip Hills
-Floods often occur

-Heavy and prolonged rain, 350mm of rain fell in January and February (100mm above average)
-High tides and storm surges (swept water up rivers which flooded onto land)
-Lack of dredging, river clogged with sediment

-Over 600 houses flooded
-16 farms evacuated
-Residents evacuated for several months
-Many lost power

-More than £10million worth of damage
-Over 14,000 hectares of land underwater for 3-4 weeks
-Over 1000 livestock evacuated

-Flood waters heavily contaminated with sewage, oil & chemicals
-Debris had to be cleared
-Water had to be reoxygented before being pumped into the river

-Rescue boats were used to help stranded people
