They had suffered from deindustrialisation when the ships etc. moved to other ports such as Folkestone and Dover.

The long term balance between inputs and outputs in a system.

What is the difference between POSITIVE and NEGATIVE feedback loops?
Negative feedback loops work to return back to the average. Positive feedback loops move the change further away from the average.

Describe the position of the Moon (and Sun) in relation to Spring and Neap tides. What impact will this have on tidal ranges?
Spring tides - moon and sun are aligned, this leads to higher high tides and lower low tides (greater tidal range).
Neap tides - moon and sun aren't in line, this leads to high tides being lower but low tides are higher. The tidal range decreases.

Rivers deposit sediment at their mouth (generally the greatest input 90%)
Constructive Waves - bring in sediment from offshore when they break.

How are the three main types of rock formed?
Igneous - When magma/lava cools.
Metamorphic - Were originally other types of rock but have been changed by heat and pressure.
Sedimentary - Made of other rocks which have been compressed in layers.

Extrusive - when lava is erupted onto the surface (often fine grains)
Intrusive - when rock is formed in the crust (ofter course grains)
