1. Crust
2. Mantle
3. Outer core
4. inner core
1 of 11
Crust, Mantle, Core
The structure of the earth has a core and an inner core.
2 of 11
Earth
70% water

What are plates?
The earth's surface is made up of large plates like a jigsaw puzzle.
The ocean's floors are continually moving.
At the edges of these plates earthquakes and volcanoes occur.
Convention currents in the mantle move the plates.
4 of 11
Constructive Plate Boundary
2 plates move apart because of the convection current in the mantle beneath.
The 2 plates move apart and magma rise up to fill the gap.
This causes eruptions
5 of 11
Destructive Plate Boundaries
A destructive plate boundary is where the plates move together because of the mantle beneath.
6 of 11
Conservative plate boundary
The 2 plates slides past each other due to the convection current in the mantle.
7 of 11
Features of earthquakes
Focus, seismic waves, epicentre
8 of 11
Focus
The focus is the point of which the rock moves in the earth's crust.
9 of 11
Seismic waves
Start at the focus- they are waves of energy given out in an earthquake.
10 of 11
Epicentre
The Epicentre is directly above the focus at the earth's surface
