What is an Environment?
The natural surroundings where people and animals live.

What are resources? Give examples.
Natural materials which are useful to people. E.g. coal, iron ore, clean water, soil etc.

How does Pollution happen? Give examples.
When people harm and destroy the environment. E.g deforestation, soil erosion, water pollution etc.

What does conservation mean? What else is this known as?
When people use resources carefully and protect the environment. Also known as sustainable development.

Why are people concerned about the environment?
When resources are misused they caan harm the environment and?or be used up. So, it is important that resources are used sensibly and the environment protected for the future i.e. Careful Planning and Management.

What are the 2 government bodies names who protect the environment?
Natural England and Forestry Commission.

But, what are the voluntary groups of people called who are concerned about the environment?
Conservationists.

What are the 6 main conservationist groups called?
National Trust, English Heritage, Woodland Trust, RSPB, Environment Agency and Greenpeace

What are the main aspects of the environment?
Attractive Countryside, Wildlife Habitats and Historic sites.

What is an endangered species?
This means that there are very few of this species left. I.e. Almost extinct.

How can a species become endangered?
Poachers hunt animals down for their valuable body parts, loss of habitat, breeding place invaded by tourists etc.
