what are convergent plate boundaries?
convergent plate boundaries are where plates move together.

what are divergent plate boundaries?
divergent plate boundaries are where plates move apart.

what are conservative plate boundaries?
conservative plate boundaries are where plate slide past each other.

what is a hotstpot?
hotspots is the area in the middle of the plate where volcanos occur, due to the increase in temperature.

what is a focus and a epicentre?
a epicentre is the point directly above the focus. The focus is the central point of the earthquake, where the earthquake actually happens.

what are the different ways of measuring earthquakes?
Richter scale-uses a seismometer to measure the energy released in the earthquake. Marcalli scale-measure the effects or impacts of the earthquake.

Why do people live near volcanos?
-soils are fertile(farming)-minerals(e.g.gold,diamonds)are found- some people worship earthquakes (e.g. ancient spirits, Mount Fuji,Japan)-tourism brings people to the area and provides jobs

-people like near areas of great natural beauty-employment opportunities-earthquakes proof buildings make people feel safe

what are the causes and effects of the Haiti earthquake?
causes-Haiti is on a conservative plate boundary,pressure built up between the two plates effects-220 000 people killed,8 hospitals destroyed, numerous landslides in the country
