It means that farmers in LICs and other countries get a good wage for their work, which could go towards tax, schools and others.

They are more expensive as they are always a fixed price.

They abolished the closed door policy, meaning that they could now trade with other countries, and they started making more money. They are now mainly a secondary industry, and they used to be a primarily primary.

More of the population are now working in secoindary industry, meaning they are making more money so more money goes to tax.

What is HDI?
Human development index. It's good as it gives an idea of how developed a country is.
