Which plate margings do valcanoes form at?
Constructive and destructive.
2 of 11
Describe destructive volcanoes.
Destructive - the friction and pressure from subduction causes vents to form in the continental plate. The magma rises up through these cracks. This usually creates highly volcanoes that produce a lot of gas and lava.
3 of 11
Describe constructive volcanoes.
Constructive - the plates diverge as a result of convection currents, causing a gap between the plates. Magma rises up to fill the gap with a volcano.

What are hotspots?
At hotspots, there ia a hot mass of rising heat under a weakness in plate. Magma rises to the surface through thos weakness.

What is lava?
Magma above the surface.

What do volcnaoes emit when they erupt?
Lava, gas, ash and pyroclastic flows.
7 of 11
What are pyroclastic flows made up of?
Ash, lava and gas.

At what speeds can pyrclastic flows reach whilst traveling downhill?
500 km/h.

What temperatures can pyroclastic flows reach?
1000 celsius.
