?
State the title of your fieldwork enquiry in which human geography was collected?
To investigate the positive and/ or negative effects of tourism on Bakewell.
1 of 22
Why is Bakewell a suitable topic for a geographical enquiry?
Bakewell is a small market town and it is a hours drive from school, where the theme of tourism dependency can be studied.Additionally, because it is a small town there is enough time to collect pedestrian and questionaire data in the time available.

What is the title of your physical geography fieldwork enquiry?
To investigate changes along the long profile of Burbage Brook.
3 of 22
Suggest one reason why risk assessment was important when planning your enquiry.
As we were working in a river called Burbage Brook it was important to take precautions against the possibility of Weil's disease caused by animal urine.

Primary data collection method.
Measuring stream velocity-Five velocity readings were taken at each measuring site downstream so as to gain an average velocity to compare our findings against the Bradshaw Model which states that velocity has increased downstream.
5 of 22
Justify one primary data collection method used in your human geography enquiry.
Pedestrian counts were taken by the whole group whilst in Bakewell. We were divided into groups, each allocated a specific location we had to be at a given time. This was so that the data collected could be mapped on a isoline map of pedestrians.
6 of 22
Justify the use of maps or photographs or field sketches in your physical geography enquiry.
We carried out a field sketch overlooking the town of Bakewell in the Wye Valley, this technique was important as it enabled us to better appreciate the landscape and enable us to pick out the key physical features such as the floodplain.

What is ITCZ and how is it responsible for variations in rainfall across the year in the tropics?
It is a belt of cloud around the Earth, the meeting point of two Hadley cells. The ITCZ shifts throughout the seasons with the changes in the position of the overhead sun, which in turn influences rainfall rates across the year.

List 3 characterestics of the climate of the understorey layer of the tropical storm.
Humid,Calm with no wind and Dark with limited sunlight.

Figure 2, two bar charts; compare the data for these two countries (Peru/Brazil).
Peru has a 94% increase in deforestation whereas, Brazil has had -21%. This is a 115% difference. Peru's rate of increase is 5 times greater than that of Brazil's rate of decrease.

Describe shifting cultivation.(What is it and how does it work?)
A small area of land is cleared and the existing vegetation is burned. The ash provided nutrients in the soil and so tribes grow crops. These are then harvested and the tribe move to another small clearing of land.

What does ITCZ stand for?
Inter tropical convergence zone
