What is sexual reproduction ?
Sexual reproduction is is where genetic information from two organisms is combined to ptoduce offspring which are genetically different to either parent

What are gametes ?
Gametes are sex cells. The male gametes are the sperm, and the female gametes are the eggs. Gametes contain one set of genetic information, while body cells contain two sets of genetic information.

What happens at fertillisation ?
A male gamete fuses with the female gamete to produce a fertilised egg, also known as a zygote. The zygote ends up with the full set of chromosomes (so it's now diploid)

What is Meiosis ?
Meiosis is another thype of cell division. it's different to mitosis because it does not produce identical cells.

What happens during division 1 of Meiosis ?
1. DNA replicated. 2. Chromosomes line up in middle of cell. 3. Pairs are then pulled apart, so each cell has ONLY one copy of each chromosome. 4. Each new cell will have a mixture of parents DNA, important because it creates genetic variation.
