Modifier genes
Modify the expression of other genes e.g. gray, hazel and green eyes are a result of modifications to the dominant brown colour and the recessive blue colour.
1 of 7
Masking
Prevent some characteristic from being expressed, or determine a limit of how much will be expressed.
2 of 7
Complementary genes
Effects are only expressed if both are present. e.g. pea flowers only turn out purple if the dominant genes P & C are both present, if only one is, they'll be white.
3 of 7
Cascade
One gene, or a set of genes are necessary for the switching on of other genes.
4 of 7
Genotype
e.g. DD, dd, Dd
5 of 7
Phenotype
Trait/outcome of the genotype.
6 of 7
HC
Heritability Coefficient: HC = (rITs - rFTs) x 2. It tells us how the difference in the heritability of a trait among individuals is related to the genes the have inherited.
