Lee never devised a strategy for winning the war, his attacks were often costly and he did not always listen to those around him. Lee won every single victory with Jackson at his side however after his death they never won another major victory again

Lee’s strategy and tactics are not particularly relevant today and therefore his status continues in the south more on a political front.
