Explain how photocells produce electricity
Light energy is absorbed by the silicon atoms, electrons are knocked out and move around the circuit, causing current to flow
1 of 5
Advantages and disadvantages of photocells
A: Low maintenance, No cable required, Renewable energy source. D: Doesn't work in the dark or when cloudy
2 of 5
How does the greenhouse effect warm the Earth?
Short wavelength radiation penetrates the atmosphere, the Earth emits longer wavelength radiation (heat) and greenhouse gases absorb this emitted radiation
3 of 5
Give the natural and man-made causes of the main greenhouse gases
Water vapour - evaporation / burning fuels. Carbon dioxide - respiration / burning fossil fuels. Methane - decomposition / producing fuels
4 of 5
What is the inverse square law?
As the distance doubles, the force will decrease by a factor of 4 (2 squared)
