main source of income used to be agriculture but now it is from hotels,shops,restaurants and the sevices run all year round

more jobs therefore people more likely to stay there. a decrease in traditional crafts and an increase in house,shops etc. prices

forrests cleared for ski slopes accomodation which led to soil erosion and change in the water cycle

What are the Environmental Impacts of more tourists driving?
more pollution, more noise which disturbs the wildlife. Water and energy needed to run the hotels aswell. Alpine vegetation destroyed because of roads being needed

Why is there unreliable snowfall in Abondance?
global warming means there is less frequent snowfall. The temperature increased by 2 degrees

What are the main social impacts?
tourist businesses close, unelmployment levels rise, young people leave to find work, local services decrease and older people left in village

Economic Impacts?
not able to rely on winter tourists, sightseers and ice climbers. Higher resorts survive as more likely snowfall, more amenities and more money to spend on artificial snow. The agriculture will benifit because of a longer growing season

Environmental Impacts?
increased temp could lead to extinction , trees at lower levels under threat, fish die - less melt water in lakes because of glaciers retreating. there is also rock falling because of an increase in ground thaws.

Fragile Environment?
road constructions and building on land impacts on natural environment. Deforestation means theres room for development but it wont bind the soil together more likely to have an avalance. Over use of slopes cause scars so no vegitation grows there.

What does an increase in pollution mean?
it reduces the attractiveness of the environment.
