What are some types of specialist cells?
Neurons, Muscle Cells, Sperm Cells, Red Blood Cells, Leukocyte.
1 of 10
What is differentiation?
The process by the cells become specialized in order to perform a specific function.
2 of 10
How do you calculate magnification?
To get total magnification take the power of the objective (4x, 10x, 40x) and multiply by the power of the eyepiece, usually 10x.
3 of 10
Where are chromosomes?
Chromosomes are thread-like structures located inside the nucleus of animal and plant cells.
4 of 10
What do chromosomes do?
Chromosomes carry all the information that help a cell grows, survive and reproduce. DNA segments with specific patterns are called genes.
5 of 10
What is Mitosis?
A type of cell division that results in two daughter cells each having the same number and kind of chromosomes as the parent nucleus, typical of ordinary tissue growth.
6 of 10
What is a stem cell?
an undifferentiated cell of a multicellular organism which is capable of giving rise to indefinitely more cells of the same type, and from which certain other kinds of cell arise by differentiation.
7 of 10
What is diffusion?
Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
8 of 10
What is osmosis?
A process by which molecules of a solvent tend to pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution into a more concentrated one.
9 of 10
What is active transport?
Active transport is the movement of dissolved molecules into or out of a cell through the cell membrane, from a region of lower concentration to a region of higher concentration.
