When is the G protein inactive?
When GDP is bound to it.
1 of 5
How is the G protein activated?
A signalling molecule binds to the extracellular side of the receptor, changing the shape and activating it.
2 of 5
What does GTP do?
It displaces GDP from the G protein
3 of 5
How does the G protein activate the enzyme?
By dissociating from the receptor and binding to the enzyme.
4 of 5
How is the G protein stopped from activating the enzyme?
After it has activated the enzyme the G protein then becomes inactive.
