How do you add two fractions?
Make them into equivalent fractions with a common denominator then add the numerator only

Example: 3/4 + 2/5
15/20 + 8/20 = 23/20 = 1 3/20 (mixed number)

How do you multiply two fractions?
Multiply the numerators and multiply the denominators, then cancel down

Example: 3/4 x 2/5
(3 x 2)/(4 x 5) = 6/20 = 3/10

How do you divide two fractions?
Turn the SECOND fraction upsidedown then MULTIPLY as card 3

Example: 3/4 / 2/5
3/4 x 5/2 = (3 x 5)/(4 x 2) = 15/8 = 1 7/8 (mixed number)

Find 2/5 of £3.50
1/5 of £3.50 = 70p (=£3.50 / 5) so 2/5 of £3.50 is £1.40

How do you multiply using Mixed numbers?
Change to improper fraction first then multiply and simplify

11/4 x 10/3 = 110/12 = 55/6 = 9 1/6

How do you find a percentage of a number?
Turn the percentage into a fraction over 100, then multiply as card 3

Find 24% of £2.50
24/100 x 2.5 = 6/25 x 5/2 = 30/50 = 3/5 = 60 pence (1/5 of £1 is 20p)

Quick tip: Find 24% of £25 (Swap the numbers around)
Same as 25% of 24 i.e. 1/4 of 24 = £6
