Formations on plate boundaries

?
Mid-ocean Ridge
Constructive Margins As the sea-floor spreads the lava wells to fill the gap. This cause the land either side to be pushed upwards creating higher terrain.
1 of 8
Rift Valley
Constructive boundaries in the centre of the ridge, immediately around the fault the crust drops down. This is due to the plates losing support from one another.
2 of 8
Deep sea trenches
Destructive- oceanic/continental & oceanic/oceanic The downwarping of the oceanic plate where it is being subducted forms a very deep part of the ocean bed.
3 of 8
Fold Mountains
Destructive- oceanic/continental & continental/continental This where the minerals and sediments in the mountains is golded and crumpled to make mountain ranges
4 of 8
Island arcs
Destructive- oceanic/oceanic When the denser late is subducted a submarine volcano is formed to release the gases and magma. Over millions of years the lava builds to above sea level creating chains of islands
5 of 8
No Volcanoes
Destructive- continental/continental The continents have a similar density and so similar buoyancy. Therefore, neither is subducted
6 of 8
Where do earthquakes occur?
All plate boundaries
7 of 8
Where do volcanoes occur?
Constructive, conservative, oceanic/continental destructive & oceani/oceanic destructive
