What is the difference between distance and displacement?
Distance is a scalar quantity whilst displacement is a vector quantity.
1 of 12
What is a scalar quantity?
Has a magnitude only.
2 of 12
What is a vector quantity?
Has magnitude and direction.
3 of 12
What is speed?
The measure of how fast an object is travelling.
4 of 12
How is speed calculated?
speed = distance / time
5 of 12
What is velocity?
The speed of an object in a given direction.
6 of 12
What is newton's first law?
An object will remain in the same sate of motion unless acted on by an external force; when the resultant force acting on an object is zero, the object remains at it's current state of movement.
7 of 12
What is inertia?
The tendency for objects to continue in the same state of motion.
8 of 12
How is the speed found on a distance-time graph?
From the gradient of the line.
9 of 12
What line on a distance-time graph shows a stationary object?
Straight horizontal line
