Forces

?
What type of force is Upthrust?
Upward force?
1 of 25
What is friction?
Friction is a force between two surfaces that are sliding, or trying to slide, across each other. Friction always slows a moving object down.
2 of 25
What type of force is a Push and Pull?
Foward force, used to move something foward?
3 of 25
What is weight?
Is a downward force. Weight is the force exerted on a body by gravity.
4 of 25
What type of force is Drag?
Drag is a type of friction which slows things down.
5 of 25
What is Action and Reaction force?
Action and Reaction Force Pairs. According to Newton's third law, for every action force there is an equal (in size) and opposite (in direction) reaction force. Forces always come in pairs - known as "action-reaction force pairs
6 of 25
What are some examples of Friction being useful?
Between our shpoes and the floor so we don't slip. Between tyres and roads to stop vechiles from slipping.
7 of 25
What are some examples of Friction not being useful?
• Dragging a weight due to the friction between the floor and weight makes it harder.

What is Newtons first law?
 If the resultant force on an object is 0, The object will not change how it is moving, If it's moving it will keep moving if it's not moving it won't move.
9 of 25
What is Newtons second law?
Pushing or pulling a object produces acceleration, a change in the speed of motion.
10 of 25
What is Newtons third law?
When Body A exerts a force on Body B, Body B will also exert a force on Body A.
11 of 25
What is a Resultant Force?
 When forces acting on an object may be replaced by a single force that has the same effect as all the original forces acting together.
12 of 25
How do you workout Force?
Mass x Acceleration
13 of 25
How do you workout out Mass?
Force / Acceleration
14 of 25
How do you workout Acceleration?
Force / Mass or Change in velocity/ Time Taken
15 of 25
What is the definiton of Elastic Materials?
Elastic materials return back to their original length after a force has been applied.
16 of 25
What is the definiton of Plastic Materials?
Becoms permanently damaged after a force has been applied.
17 of 25
When can the stretching of an object occour?
If more than one force is acting on the object.
18 of 25
What is Elastic deformation?
Is where a shape is stretched and temporaily deformed.
19 of 25
What is In-Elastic deformation?
Where a shape is stretched passed its Elastic Limit.
20 of 25
How do you workout Stopping Distance?
Thinking + Break Distance.
21 of 25
How can thinking Distance be increased?
Greater speed, tiredness. alchol and drugs.
22 of 25
How can the Break Distance be increased?
Greater speed, poor road conditions, car conditions.
23 of 25
What is Hookes Law?
The amount a spring stretches is proportional to the amount of force applied.
24 of 25
What is F=KX
Force= Spring Constant x Extension.
