The study of nutrients found in food and their functions in the body.

Chemical compounds found in foods. These are proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.

A diet that contains all the nutrients in the correct amounts to meet individual needs.

Lack of food or particular nutrients in the diet or too much of the wrong kind of foods.

The building blocks of body cells. A macronutrient. Needed for growth, repair and maitenance.
