First Past the Post - plurality
An electoral system where the person with the most number of votes is elected. Victory is achieved by having one more vote than other contenders - plurality

Single Transferable Vote - proportional
Allows voters to rank their voting preferences in number order rather than simply having 1 voting choice. In order to obtain a seat, a candidate must obtain a quota. After votes cast, those w/ least votes are eliminated & their votes transferred

Supplementary Vote - majoritain
Voter makes 2 choices. If 1 candidate obtains over 50% on the 1st vote then the contest is complete, if no candidates attains this level, all but the top 2 candidates remain. Whoever gets the most votes from the 2 wins

Alternative vote
The Alternative Vote is designed to deal with vote splitting. Under Westminster’s First Past the Post system, a candidate the majority dislike can win, if the majority split their votes across multiple candidates.

Borda Count
Voters use the Borda Count elect one Member of Parliament (MP) per constituency. On polling day, voters put a number next to each candidate, with their favourite at number one. The rankings are then turned into points.

Rather electing 1 person per area, in PLS each area is bigger and elects a group of MPs that reflect the way the area voted. ATM - 650 constituencies, each electing 1 Member of Parliament (MP); a PLS- might have 26 constituency each electing 25 MPs
