How does a new-born's fine motor skills develop?
The newborn is able to grasp an adult finger. At the age of 3 months it can hold a rattle for a short period. At 6 months, it can grasp a toy and pass it to the other hand. At 12 months, pick up small objects using a pincer grip.

How has an 18 month old fine motor skills developed?
Can build with small blocks. Able to use spoon and make marks with crayons using a palmar grasp. At the age of two, can pull on her shoes and control the crayon to draw shapes

How has a 3 year old's fine motor skills developed?
Developing a tripod grasp. Able to use a fork, spoon, knife and turn the page of a book. Can (un)button clothing. At age four, it can string beads and colour.

How has a 5 year old's fine motor skills developed?
Able to control muscles in fingers and use hand-eye coordination. Can write own name and join up writingby the age of 8.
