What is backlighting
When the light is placed behind an object, silhouetting it.

What is cross-cutting?
cutting between different sets of actions happening simultaneously which builds suspense.

What is a continuity cut?
cuts that take us logically from one scene to the next. It moves the narrative along.

What is a Match cut?
Favoured in hollywood. makes sense. a jump cut but with more information between the cuts.

What is deep focus?
When everything in the shot is in focus.

What is an extreme long shot?
An exterior location shot from far away. Much like an establishing shot

What is a fill light?
Usually from the side of an object. It softens shadows and illuminates areas not in the key light

What is a tracking shot?
The camera follows movement

What is a key light?
The main light on an object. This provides the main lighting in a scene. You can have High and Low key lighting.

What is a master shot?
A long take on an entire scene

What is a pan?
When the camera moves from left to right or vise versa.
