Fertilised egg begins to divide into two cells. By the end of the day there are 8 cells.

Cells continue moving and dividing

Ball of cells now known as a morula. Morula becomes hollow by pumping fluid into the centre = Blastocyst.

Hatches from the Zona pellucia

Zona pellucia
Thick transparent membrane surrounding the ovum before implantation. Once the blastocyst has hatched it is able to embed into the uterine wall.

Inner cell mass forms as well and exterior cells which contribute to placenta.

Cells on the inside become primitive ectoderm (Stem cells)
