What is a Feeding plan?
- A document that provides instructions on the dietary requirements of a specific animal

- It provides a guide on what the animal needs to be fed on a daily basis

- Preparation for surgery or treatment
- Competition/work
- Breeding/Pregnancy/lactation
- Life stage/age
- Increase or decrease in group size
- Seasons
- Neutered or spayed

What is a feeding record?
- It is a table or chart that provides information on what food, water, or supplements an animal has consumed.
- They may also include information about the animals behaviour or health during feeding

Why its important to monitor?
- Monitor health and welfare
- Quick recognition of any issues
- Highlight any patterns developing
- Identify if the animal has or has not been feeding
- Identify what that animal has been fed that
- day/week and how much

Why monitor weight gain?
- Identify weight loss/gain
- Identify any progressing health problems
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the diet
- We can assess the growth
- Prepare for breeding
- maintain up to date records in the case of emergencies

Comparing different feed composition
To accurately compare we must remove the waste
Result product of removing the water is known as = Dry matter

Foods containing different amounts of water must be converted to dry matter
before any accurate comparison can be made
