Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
Won a Nobel Prize in physics. His theory of relativity came from inadequacies in Newtonian mechanics. Explained Brownian movement of molecules. Laid the foundation for photon theory of light.

Dmitri Mendeleev (1834-1907)
Created the periodic table of elements,, but left gaps for elements he predicted would be found in the future. Originally ordered atoms by their atomic weight. Sorted the elements based on their chemical properties.
