Encourages members to listen to each other & discuss problems and solutions together. It aims to reduce levels of expressed emotions between family members.

Not only the family and the participant but also people that are close and in regular contact with the patient.

Yes. Patients part of a family that shows reduced express emotions are less likely to have a relapse.

Evaluation: Does Family Therapy have an economic impact?
Yes. Family Therapy reduces relapses rates, so the patient is more likely to spend shorter periods in hospital.

Evaluation: Is Family Therapy solely a good treatment for Schizophrenia?
No. Family Therapy should be combined with other treatments, usually drug treatment, for more efficiency.

It may simply be that family therapy increases medication compliance rather than anything else.
