engels- the monogomous families only emerged with Capitalism. Before that traditional tibes were classless and they practised a form of primitive communism with no private property. Properties were collectively owned.

Gender inequality clearly preceded Capitalism... With the vast majority of tribes in Africa and Asia are patriarchal, with women being barred from owning property, no political power, to do most of the child care and physical labour.
