Define Family.
A group consisting of two parents and their children living in as a unit.

A Household refers to people living together in a domestic dwelling.

Give an example of where Monogamy is practiced.
Monogamy is widely practiced in western cultures. Monogamy is when an individual is faithful to only one partner and s not involved in with any other people in a romantic relationship.

Give an example of where Polygamy is practiced.
Polygamy is practiced in countries such as Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries and cultures. However in Mauritius polygamous unions have no legal recognition Muslin men may 'marry' up to 4 women by but they do not have the legal status of wives.

Give an example of where polyandry is practiced.
Polyandry is was common practice and still found in Tibet where brothers would marry one woman and have the same wife. This was use to ensure aristocratic titles, land and wealth stays within the family.

What is a 'Nuclear family'?
A Nuclear family is when two parents with biological children live in one household. It is also referred as the 'Cereal Packet Family'.

What is a 'Reconstituted Family'.?
A 'Reconstituted family' is a family consisting of two partners living in one household sharing parental duties for one or more children, but only one of them is them is the biological parent.

What is a 'Single parent family'?
A family consisting of one adult with one or more children living in one household.

What is a 'Extended family'?
A 'Extended family' is one where relatives such as Uncles/Aunts or Grandparents reside permanently in the same household as those making up the nuclear family.

What is a 'Dependent child'?
A 'Dependent child' is someone in full-time education up to the age of 21. It is child who depends on another as a primary source of income.

Define ' Non-dependent individual'.
A 'non-dependent' individual is a person other than your partner who is above the age of 18 who lives with you. E.G Adult Sons/Daughters for ho you no longer receive child benefit for and also elderly relatives.
