Falling objects and drag

?
What happens when you drop an object?
It falls directly towards the ground because of the gravitational attraction between the object and the object.
1 of 5
What happens when there is nothing to stop an object from falling?
The gravity will cause it to start moving downwards the Earth.
2 of 5
However when an object is falling through the air..
there is a frictional force in the opposite direction called air resistance. As the speed increases, the size of the opposing drag force increases.
3 of 5
What happens to a falling object when there is no atmosphere?
There is no drag force on a moving object.
4 of 5

mass of object x gravitational field strength
