Factors affecting Calvin Cycle (PHOTOSYNTHESIS)

?
What are the three factors that affect the Calvin Cycle?
Temperature, CO2, Light
1 of 6
How does increasing the temperature affect the rate of the cycle?
Initially the rate increases as the enzyme Rubisco works quicker, however eventually it slows to a stop as the enzyme becomes denatured so cannot bond CO2 to RuBP
2 of 6
How does decreasing CO2 affect the rate of the cycle?
less GP produced meaning less TP produced. However, RuBP initially rises as it builds from not bonding with CO2... but this doesn't last
3 of 6
How does decreasing the light affect the rate of the Calvin cycle?
less ATP and reduced NADP made meaning GP cannot be made into TP, leading to less RuBP, stopping the reaction
4 of 6
What is the compensation point?
When there is enough CO2 and light for the amount of photosynthesis to overtake the amount of respiration occuring
5 of 6
What happens when the temperature is too high for Rubisco to work correctly?
It becomes denatured and starts to bond RuBP to O2 instead of CO2... this is known as Photorespiration
