Explanations of Aggression- The Roles of Evolution and Natural Selection

?
What is evolution?
The gradual development of organisms, so all species have some genes because we have common ancestors
1 of 7
Natural selection
Survival of the fittest, the ones with better characteristic survive and breed, passing characteristics into the off spring
2 of 7
What is genetic mutation?
Where the DNA isn't fully copied when the DNA replicates, it codes for a different protein and causes changes and variation in a species, for example, giraffes developing long necks
3 of 7
What is sexual selection?
Females choose a mate based on who is more likely to protect them and hunt well, thus passing good genes to their offspring
4 of 7
How does evolution explain aggression?
The males are more aggressive because they would be the ones fighting for mates and hunting, whilst the females look after the young etc, the more aggressive the mld was, the more advantage they had over choosing a mate and hunting etc
5 of 7
Conflicting evidence
Natural selection, those who were less aggressive didn't fight, they didn't survive
6 of 7
Testable
Cant be scientifically tested, limited fossil records and they can't be empirically tested, showing testability is limited
