1851 Fort Laramie Treaty
An agreement made by the Indians and US government that the indians would stop attacking wagon trains on the orgon trail if they were entitled to a ***** of land across the center of the government.

1862 Little Crow's War
Indians starving due to failure of crops (pests) and a delay in compensation payments. Starvation led to them attacking government warehouse, taking food and burning buildings. In the end the Santee Sioux lost and were moved to small reservations.

1864 Sand Creek Massacre
Cheyenne attacked wagon trains due to starvation. After 3 years they tried to make amends with the government but the US army massacred 450 Indians despite their surrender. After they went back to Oklahoma.

1865 Red Cloud's War
Discovery of gold in Montana meant that white settelers crossed the Bozeman Trail braking the Fort Laramie treaty. As a result Crazy horse, Red Cloud and Sitting Bull attacked wagon trains and attacked the army. This led to negotiation.

1868 Second Fort Laramie Treaty
Created smaller reservations so smaller tribes. Red Cloud moved Sioux to Dakota territory but this broke down their society.

1874 Discovery of Gold in the Black Hills
Miners broke 2nd Fort Laramie Treaty. The US government tried to buy the land off them but the Indians refused.
