what is euthanasia (vague sense)?

where was the word euthanasia derived from and what does it literally translate as?
comes from the Greek "eu" meaning good and "thantos" menaing death

what are the types of euthanasia?
voluntary, involuntary, passive and acitve

Define voluntary euthanasia?
This is where euthanasia is carried out at the request of the person who dies.

Define involuntary euthanasia?
This occurs when the person who dies wants to live but is killed anyway. It is usually the same thing as murder.

Define passive euthanasia?
In passive euthanasia death is brought about by an omission - i.e. by withdrawing or withholding treatment in order to let the person die.

Define active euthanasia?
In active euthanasia a person directly and deliberately causes the patient's death.

its seen as assisted suicide, illegal under the suicide act 1961, punishable by up to 14 years
