"Euthanasia" literally means 'Good death.' Also knows as assisted suicide- helping a terminally ill person to end their life. 4 main catagories

Treatment that would've saved the person's life is stopped.

Deliberate steps are taken to end someone's life.

Patients asks for help to die.

Doctor/Judge decides that the patient's life should be ended. Only passive euthanasia is legal in England

Roman Catholic View
Against- Sanctity of life. God made life and only he has the right to take it away. They should not kill another being. Suffering brings the person closer to God. Only allowed if the dose of pain killers required to stop the suffering would kill them

Church of England View
Believe it's wrong- Sanctity of life. However, they might accept euthanasia in some cases- put emphasis on Jesus' teaching of agape- unconditional love. It stops the person and their family from suffering,

How Would Christians React?
Would see hospices as a better option- care for the terminally ill and give them love, dignity, and support. Also provide services to help relatives to cope. Might donate money or work at a hospice.
