Confidentiality
All participants have the right to remain anonymous. Can use initals and numbers instead of names. Some studies become infamous (Phineas Gage) and then confidentiality can become unrealistic.

Deception
Sometimes necessary for the study. All participants have to be debriefed afterwards and told of any deception.

Consent
All participants should give prior consent. All participants should sign a consent form or letter. Children or disabled participants may be unable to consent and then someone else needs to give consent in loco parentis.

Debriefing
All participants should be debriefed after the study. Quasi or field study's can make it hard to contact participants. They should be given relevant information, allowed to ask questions and contact details.

Withdrawal rights
A participants may withdraw at anytime and still be paid (if applicable). P's must be reminded of this regularly. If too many p's withdraw the data pool will become limited

Protection from harm
You cannot knowingly harm a patient. Should offer counselling to p's. Hard to know the extent of mental damage.
