Fissure Eruptions
VEI-0, Frequency- constant, Dangers- not very basaltic lave- fast and flowing. Magma flows up through cracks in the ground and leaks out into the surface (small height above the ground)

Hawaiian
VEI-1, Frequency- daily, Dangers- basaltic lava, fast and flowing. Fountain of bright orange lava hundreds of feet in the air. Lava flow from central vent, which can produce a wide lava lake. No ash

Strombolian
VEI-2, Frequency- weekly, Dangers- local area (volcanic bombs). Firewok display of small amounts of lava (15-90 mins), with booming sounds but small eruptions. Don't produce lava flows, but ashy tephra prodcued

Vulcanian
VEI- 3, Frequency- few months, Dangers- ash cloud. Made up of ash material and football sized volcanic bombs. Not associated with lava flow.

Pelean
VEI-4, Frequency >1 year, Dangers- pyroclastic flow. Avalanche of hot volcanic ash and pyroclastic flow

Plinian
VEI-5-8, Frequency- 10-10,000 years, Dangers- high ash clouds, blocks out sun, world changing. Ash clouds 35km, tephra-volcanic bombs, fast moving lava flows that destroy everything in thier path
