When is a dynamic equilibrium reached?
A dynamic equilibrium is reached when the concentration of reactants and products are constant and the forwards and backwards reactions are going at the same rate
1 of 6
State Le Chatelier’s principle
If the is a change in concentration, pressure or temperature the equilibrium will move to help counteract the change
2 of 6
What happens if you increase the concentration of the reactants?
The equilibrium will move to the right (forwards direction) to make more products in order to remove the extra reactants
3 of 6
What happens if you increase the concentration of the products?
The equilibrium moves to the left (backwards direction) to make more reactants in order to remove the extra products
4 of 6
What happens when you increase pressure?
Increasing the pressure shifts the equilibrium to the side with the least moles of gas to counteract the change and decrease the pressure
5 of 6
What happens when you decrease pressure?
Decreasing the pressure shifts the equilibrium to the side with the most moles of gas to counteract the change and increase the pressure
