Epidemiology
The study of the occurence, distribution and control of diseases in populations

The number of new cases of a specific illness diagnosed or reported in a specific period of time, such as a year

The number of new cases of a specific illness diagnosed or reported in a specific period of time, such as a year, divided by the number of people at risk of the illness (community)

Opportunistic Infections
Infections caused by viruses or pathogens that infect the body when the immune system is weakened (HIV sufferers etc.)
