Why does bile neutralise the stomach?
Hydrochloric acid in the stomach is too acidic for enzymes in the small intestine to work properly. As the bile is alkaline, it neutralises the acid and makes it alkaline (enzymes work best in alkaline here)

Why does bile emulsify fat?
Gives a much bigger surface area of fat for the lipase to work on - digestion faster
