List 4 types of enzymes that are used in industry.
Protease. Lipase. Carbohydrase. Isomerase.
1 of 10
What is the function of Protease?
To break down proteins.
2 of 10
What is an Enzyme?
A biological catalyst.
3 of 10
State One industrial use of Lipase and its function.
Lipase is used (with Protease) in biological Detergents. The enzymes break down (digest) the substances in stains so that they are soluble in water.
4 of 10
State one industrial use of Isomerase and its function.
Isomerase is used in slimming foods. The enzyme converts Glucose syrup into Fructose syrup. Fructose is sweeter than Glucose syrup so it can be used in smaller quantities.
5 of 10
What is the function of Lipase?
To break down fats.
6 of 10
What is the function of Carbohydrase?
To break down carbohydrates.
7 of 10
State one industrial use of Protease and its function.
Protease is used in baby food products. The enzymes break down(digest) the food so that it is easier for baby's to digest.
8 of 10
What is the function of Isomerase
To convert Glucose syrup to Fructose syrup.
9 of 10
State on industrial use of Carbohydrase and its function.
Carbohydrase is used in sports drinks. The enzyme converts starch syrup into Sugar syrup (which is more valuable).
