Enzymes 5.0 / 5 based on 2 ratings ? BiologyEnzymesASOCR Created by: Charece.xCreated on: 12-03-17 20:53 how does substrate conc affect the rate of reaction? the higher the conc the faster the reactios, more substrate molecules= more collision between substrate and enzyme so more active site is used up 1 of 7 How does an competitive inhibitor work? they compete with substrate molecules to bind to the active site(no reaction takes place), they block the active site so no substrate can fit in it 2 of 7 how does a non competitive inhibitor work? they bind the enzyme away from its active site. Bind to the enzymes allosteric site. Changes the shape of the active site. 3 of 7 what happens during non competitive inhibition if the substrate conc is increased? it has no further effect so enzyme activity is still inhibited. 4 of 7 what happens during competitive inhibition if the substrate concentration is increased? it will increase the rate of reaction up until a point 5 of 7 when can inhibitors be reversible? if they have weak hydrogen or ionic bonds( inhibitor can be removed) therefore inhibition is reversible. 6 of 7 when is inhibition irreversible? if there are strong covalent bonds (inhibitior cant be easily removed) 7 of 7
