What is a Simple Cell?
Made from connecting two different metals (different reactivity) in contact with an electrolyte.
1 of 11
What is a Battery?
Two or more simple cells joined together in series to make a greater voltage.
2 of 11
What is a Non-Rechargeable Cell?
Type of cell where the reactions stop when one of the reactants is used up. E.g Alkali batteries
3 of 11
What is a Rechargeable Cell?
Type of cell where the chemical reactions can be reversed when an electric current is supplied.
4 of 11
What are Factors Affecting Voltage?
Electrolyte used, different in reactivity of two metals.
5 of 11
What is a Fuel Cell?
Type of cell that makes electricity from reacting a fuel (eg Hydrogen) with oxygen.
6 of 11
What is the Overall Equation?
2h2+o2 2h2o
7 of 11
What is the Anode Equation?
4H+(aq) + O2(g) + 4e– → 2H2O(g)
