What is current?
The flow of charge (electrons-negative protons-positive) Protons cannot move.
1 of 11
Describe current in a series circuit
Current flows through components and back to battery. As it passes through, current gives some energy to bulbs and recharges at battery. Current is the same anywhere because there is no choice of route. Current does not flow if there is a break in th
2 of 11
Describe current in a parallel circuit
Current flows through the components but can choose where to go (different branches). Current splits at the juctions and current is different but add up to the reading at the branch where cell is. Current still flows if there is a broken bulb.
3 of 11
What is energy and what unit of measurement is it measured in?
Energy is the ability to do work and is measured in Joules (J)
4 of 11
Name the types of energy and what they are
Kinetic-energy in moving object Electrical-energy carried by charge Light-energy emitted by bulb Nuclear-energy released when atom is split Sound-energy passed by vibrations in the air Elastic-stored energy when elastic object is stretched... GPE- st
5 of 11
What does the Law of Conservation of Energy say?
Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only be converted into one form from another
6 of 11
What is the formula for what the total energy input is equal to?
Total Energy Input=Useful+Wasted Energy
7 of 11
What does it mean when fossil fuels are called non-renewable?
It will run out because it takes millions of years to form underground but only takes minutes to burn
8 of 11
Name three fossil fuels
Coal, gas, oil
9 of 11
Describe how electricity is generated in power stations
Fossil fuels are burnt to produce thermal energy from chemical energy. Hot steam makes turbine spin which transferrs to generator. Produces electricity because copper spins round magent. National grid and pylon take electricity to homes.
10 of 11
Name alternative ways of generating electricity
Hydroelectric, Nuclear, Wind, Biomass, Solar, Geothermal, Waves

Please note that all of the resources that I make are actually for myself. Of course, please do feel free to use any of my resources if you wish but I kindly request that you do not show hate as these resources are mine and I have spent my time making them to help me with my tests. I am aware of my spelling mistakes but like I said, I made these resources for myself. However, you all may use them if you would like to but if not, please leave. There is no need for hate.
