what are the 9 stores of energy.
they are kinetic, sound, light, heat, gravitational potential (GPE), chemical, electrical, nuclear and elastic.
1 of 14
how do energy stores change in interactions.
Energy can transfer from one form to another. Energy is never created or destroyed-it changes from one form to another.
2 of 14
What is kinetic energy.
kinetic energy is the movement of an object and the calculation is:1/2xmassxspeed squared
3 of 14
what is gravitational potential energy.
Granvitational energy in the change in height of an object and the calculation is:weight(N)xchange in height(M)
4 of 14
What is work done.
work done is the forcexdistance moved (J=NxM)
5 of 14
what is the equation of power.
Power is calculated by the work done divided by the time taken.
6 of 14
types of power stations
there is tidal, biomass, solar, wave energy, hydroelectricity, wind power and geothermal energy powerstations
7 of 14
pros and cons of tidal
it is a renewable energy source,it does not polute, the cost generating is low after the initial investment is paid off but its coslty to build, locations are highly limited and spinning blades can kill marine wildlife
8 of 14
pros and cons of biomass
it is renewable, growing biomass crops produces oxygen and uses up carbon dioxide, less money is then spent of foreign oil but additional work is needed in areas for harvesting methods, research is needed to reduce costs for production
9 of 14
pros and cons of solar
it is a renewable resource,it is eco friendly,it cuts back electricity bills but its not 100% reliable,it has a problem with efficiency and the materials used to make solar panels can cause pollution
10 of 14
pros and cons of wave energy
it is renewable, constant energy is produced,it is are harmless way of collecting energy but it is only sustainable in certain locations,it effects the marine ecosystem by desturbing their habitats and they are loud and create usual pollution
11 of 14
pros and cons of hydroelectricity
it is a clean fuel source, renewable, they provide essential backup power but they are expensive, have limited reservoirs and can sometimes cause droughts
12 of 14
pros and cons of wind power
it is renewable,no expensive bills, not pollutant but it kills birds, eye sore and expensive to build
13 of 14
pros and cons of geothermal energy
it doesn't pollute, running costs are very low but its difficult to find site for the power stations, you may run out of steam if not managed carefully and occasionally can release dangerous gases and minerals.
