Dynamic Cell - Support Tissues

?
What are the 2 types of connective tissues
loose connective tissues, dense fibrous connective tissues (DFCT)
1 of 9
What are loose connective tissues composed of
collagen and elastic fibres (stretch resistance and elastic recoil) and ground substances
2 of 9
What are the resident cells of the loose CT (5)
1. Fibroblasts - make fibres 2. fat cells - energy storage 3. mast cells - immune function 4. endothelial - line circulatory system 5. pericyte- stem cells
3 of 9
What are the immigrant cells of the loose CT (4)
1. momocytes 2. lymphocytes 3. macrophages 4. plasma cells.
4 of 9
What are the two arrangements of DFCT
1. Regular DFCT - highly organised parallel bundles of collagen fibres 2. Irregular DFCT - random bundles of collagen fibres
5 of 9
What are the 3 types of cartilage
1. Hyaline - forms a smooth surface that joints can move over and resit and absorb forces 2. Elastic cartilage - addition of elastic fibres to make it more bouncy 3. Fibrocartilage - intermediate, fibrous
6 of 9
What is the role of ECM in the hyaline cartilage
Collagen fibres attach to molecules within the ECM and curve over to form arcades. At the surface the collagen fibres resist sheer forces and elsewhere they are pressurised.
7 of 9
What are the two types of bone formation
1. Bone directly - cells come together, form dense mass, cells become osteoblasts and secrete bone matrix, growth on the outside occurs (repeats) 2. Cartilage then bone - cartilage differentiate, blood vessels invade spaces between, bring bone cells.
8 of 9
What is synovial joints
Bones covered by articular cartilage.
