Geography and Conflict
2011, split in to Sudan and South Sudan. Both rich in natural resources. Desert in North, Rainforest in South. Blue Nile flows through both. Both rich in Oil, grazing land and gold. South wet season allows agriculture. Malnutrition major problem.

Relationship between Sudan and South Sudan
Tensions over oil. Port Sudan belongs to Sudan (good trade links). South Sudan land-locked without trade links. Major disputes over Aeglig oil reserve (on border). Oil pipeline to Red Sea stopped. South Sudan cannot trade its reserve.

Impacts to South Sudan
Worst levels of development and equality. 1/9 die before 5 (high IMR), 50% lack clean water, 84% women illiterate. 2011, 10,000 killed in local conflicts. Attempted coup in 2013, 200,000 left displaced. Failure to attract investors - unstable gov.

Conflict Resolution in South Sudan
Un base camp set up and has deployed troops. UK government sent food, water, medical care and sanitation aid. SOME politicians have distancesd themselves from their affiliated rebel groups.
