What is biodiversity?
The variety of all the different species of organisms on earth
1 of 9
What does a high biodiversity do to help ecosystems?
Helps them to be stable because species depend on each toher for food and shelter
2 of 9
What does pollution do?
Kills plants and animals
3 of 9
Where can pollution occur?
in water from sewage, in air from gases, on land from landfill
4 of 9
What is overexploitation?
Taking too many resources from the environment
5 of 9
What is deforestation?
Cutting down trees and the destruction of forests
6 of 9
What is global warming?
A gradual increase in the temperature of the earth
7 of 9
What are the biological consequences of global warming?
Loss of habitat , changes in distribution of species in areas where temperature or rainfall has changed, changes to migration patterns of animals
8 of 9
How is overexploitation kept at bay?
Setting up breathing programmes, protecting rare habitats, encouraging farmers to keep margins of hedgerows in fields, reducing deforestation, recycling resources
